AGI Denim Unveils New TOMORROWLAB Collection as a Platform for Denim Innovations

Karachi, Pakistan – April 7, 2025 – AGI Denim today announced the launch of TOMORROWLAB as an expanded innovation platform for spotlighting cutting-edge technologies that explore the possible futures of denim. The collection is set to debut at the upcoming Kingpins Amsterdam trade show on April 16–17, 2025.

Originally conceived as a 30th-anniversary collaboration with denim industry veteran Jonathan Cheung, TOMORROWLAB has evolved from a capsule collection into a permanent platform for sustainable and functional innovation—an ongoing launchpad for visionary ideas from AGI Denim and its technology collaborators. The new collection is organized under four pillars – Future Functions, Future Fibers, Future Colors, and Unwasted – each highlighting advanced technologies and creative concepts that redefine responsible denim.

“We launched TOMORROWLAB for our 30th anniversary to explore what the future of denim could look like, and the response was overwhelming,” said Henry Wong, VP of Product Development and Marketing, AGI Denim. “Now, TOMORROWLAB has evolved into a dynamic innovation platform. It allows us to continuously experiment with eco-forward materials and processes – from carbon-negative dyes to future fibers – and turn them into beautiful, market-ready denim fabrics. With this new collection, we invite technology collaborators and industry partners to join us on a transformative journey towards circular denim future.”

Each of TOMORROWLAB’S four pillars represents a focus area of innovation:

Future Colors

Exploring environmentally friendly color technologies that reduce reliance on synthetic dyes and create new aesthetics:

Living Ink – Algae Black™ pigment: a carbon-negative pigment that transforms renewable algae waste into a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based dyes. Algae Black™ offers an impressive 200% reduction in carbon footprint through its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)-backed, carbon-negative process. As a drop-in replacement for petroleum-based dyes, it seamlessly integrates into AGI Denim’s vertical manufacturing system without compromising on quality or performance.

Earth Glaze, made with Archroma NTR™ EarthColors®: In a first-of-its-kind application, AGI Denim and Archroma reformulated EarthColors® – a dye made from non-edible plant waste – into a fabric coating. The result is naturally colored denim, rich in tone and achieved with minimal water and energy. This marks a bold move toward surface-based coloration using agricultural byproducts.

The Chip-Off: A denim innovation engineered for superior chip-off color performance. Designed for more efficient washing and laser effects, this fabric allows for faster, cleaner processing and delivers rich, high-contrast aesthetics with minimal environmental cost.

Future Functions

Performance-driven fabrics that enhance wearability, comfort, and body-responsive features:

FitSense® by LYCRA: Precision-engineered support zones built into stretch denim for a body-contouring fit. Offers shaping where it’s needed most without changing the authentic denim look and feel.

Beauty Fiber® by UMORFIL: A bio-based fiber made by blending marine collagen with cellulose, delivering ultra-soft, skin-friendly denim that helps retain skin moisture and neutralizes odor.

Outlast®: A phase-change material that regulates body temperature and is Certified Space Technology by the Space Foundation. Outlast denim absorbs and releases heat, ensuring optimal comfort across a range of climates.

Future Fibers

Expanding denim’s material palette with low-impact natural fibers:

Bamboo Fiber: Naturally antibacterial, breathable, and moisture-wicking, bamboo adds a cool, silky softness to denim while reducing water and pesticide use in cultivation.

Banana Fiber: Upcycled from agricultural waste, banana fiber delivers a distinct natural slub texture. A sustainable solution from farm to fabric.

Silk: A premium natural protein fiber, silk imparts strength, softness, and subtle sheen, elevating denim with luxurious comfort and durability.

Circ®: Technology that returns poly-cotton waste back to the raw in a closed-loop system. The polyester portion of these textile waste turn into materials for making recycled polyester. The cotton portion turn into the materials we use in our Circ lyocell. This lyocell is a regenerated cellulose fiber that matches the quality of virgin, tree-based lyocell.

Unwasted

Circular economy thinking, turning waste into fresh materials and designing for recyclability:

Tex2Tex: Denim made using post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste, mechanically recycled into new fiber and yarn. This textile-to-textile innovation diverts waste from landfill while maintaining high fabric quality.

Re-Visco: Regenerated cellulosic fibers made from recycled textile waste instead of virgin wood pulp. These fabrics embody closed-loop thinking and support future recyclability at the garment’s end of life.

The TOMORROWLAB collection will be showcased at Kingpins Amsterdam on April 16-17, 2025, offering a glimpse into the future of denim through a lens of creativity, science, and sustainability. Clients can contact their AGI Denim representatives for private viewings globally.
