Artistic Fabric and Garment Industries (AGI Denim) is proud to announce it has pledged to planting 27,000 mangrove saplings in Karachi, Pakistan by March 24, 2018, as part of WWF-Pakistan’s Earth Hour 2018 “Mangroves Plantation Campaign”.

AGI Denim is one of Pakistan’s premium denim manufacturers and is determined to reducing its carbon footprint through the campaign; one tree for every employee. The plantation campaign aims to work towards a greener and climate resilient Karachi.

Ahmed Javed, Director at Artistic Fabric and Garment Industries said, “At AGI Denim, we believe our responsibility goes beyond just manufacturing fabrics and garments. We must also take steps to ensure we are doing everything we can to reduce the impact on our environment. Therefore in efforts to sustain the changing eco system around us, we took it upon us to work towards offsetting a part of the carbon footprint of each individual at AGI Denim by planting 27,000 Mangrove trees. We hope this initiative will go a long way in conserving mangrove forests, benefitting the communities they support and pave the way for more partnerships like this in the future”

With a large-scale, fully vertical denim operation based in Karachi, Pakistan, AGI Denim produces some of the most innovative denim products for top denim brands. The company has recently launched the Artistic Cares Foundation in an effort to encapsulate its vision of “delivering premium products in the most ethical way possible”. Some of the recent initiatives include; the highest rated LEED Gold facility in the country and the P.A.C.E (Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement) program in partnership with Gap Inc. targeted to empower female garment workers in their personal and professional lives.

Through the mangrove campaign AGI Denim and WWF-Pakistan aim to raise awareness about environmental education, and are committing to continue efforts to reduce the load on the environment through other such campaigns in the future. This is synonymous with AGI Denim’s Vision 2020 of planting one tree per garment, reiterating its aim to be the leader in sustainable manufacturing.
