AGI Pledges Water Stewardship

January 5, 2021

Our 70-year heritage has taught us to make more from less. Since 2019 we have taken our quest for responsible resource management further by collaborating with WWF and AWS to implement the Alliance for Water Stewardship Standards at our facilities. Led by the International Labour Organization (ILO), this initiative is supported by the EU funded, Implementation of International Labour and Environmental Standards (ILES).

Our commitment to the pursuit of responsible water stewardship includes:

  1. Good water governance
  2. Sustainable water balance
  3. Good water quality
  4. Important water related areas
  5. Safe water Sanitation and Hygiene for All (WASH) – ensuring that workers on site have access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene.

Inspired by the principles of collaboration and mutual transparency, AGI Denim commits to sharing water related efforts and information to all relevant stakeholders and audiences, as per AWS guidance.

AGI Denim’s water stewardship program is focused on respecting water as a shared resource. We installed a waste wastewater recycling plant in 2018, through which we recycle our process wastewater, utilizing it in the wet process of the production stage. Since last year we have worked closely with AWS and WWF to become water positive by promoting water stewardship throughout our value chain, focusing on both water use and water quality. Across our operations, AGI Denim is looking at different ways of reducing, reusing and recycling water.
